The Family Workings Chat Room will allow connections from anywhere on the Internet and should be compatible with any standard Web browser. Anyone can use it.

The chat screen is simply another HTML document and will need to be refreshed every now and then. Hit the "Read New Messages" link to view any messages that may have been posted since you first logged in. Posting a message to the chat room will reload the page automatically and display your message along with any other new ones.

Anyone, anywhere, is welcome to join in the chat, but first please read these rules before you begin. They are simply common sense and ask only that your posts are civil and polite.

Welcome to this chat room. It is our desire that you enjoy yourself in this room as you gather and you share with others your genealogy information.

The Rules for this room are simple and self explanatory.......

1: Be Nice. No name calling, humiliating each other, using foul language of any kind.

2: No Flaming. If you cause a problem your post will immediately be removed. No exceptions.

4. Leave your e-mail address in the box provided so other researchers can reach you easily.

5. Be respectful of others opinions. Please do not talk about Politics in this Chat room. There are other rooms for that.

6. No spaming. No Advertising. You may share links to other genealogical resources if you would like. Also any other sites that you believe would be of interest to other chat users.

7. There is no other administrator's of this site except"admin". Please notify "admin" if someone poses as administrator of this site. Please, do not mis-represent yourself. Do not pose as someone else. There is no need for that at anytime.

8. Private information and negative remarks about others should not be posted at any time.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

1. In the FROM box: Type in the name you want to be known as here.

2. In the "To" box: you can specify a person, the room or all.

3. In the E-mail box, enter your e-mail address. This will auto address e-mail by a person wanting to contact you, by them clicking on your name!

4. In the message box: Type in your message, ALWAYS put the surname in "CAPS", give a first (given) name, dates and locations you are searching, if known.

5. Click on the post message tab. (Once)

6. To view "NEW" messages click on "Read New Messages", then use the scroll bar to the right of the message board to read new posts. Continue to repeat #5 each time you want to read new messages.
