I really am interested in finding more on this Gerald TRIER. This is the first break that I have gotten in many years. The last TRIER that I found, I guess we were not related. Several weeks ago I got a phone call from Gerald C. TRIER. He said he was the son or grandson of John Charles or Charles John TRIER. I know that Gerald is 72 yrs old & was b in 1939. He seemed to know about John Charles or Charles John dying in the 1940'a in either ND or SD. He also knew about the Mother, Mary Lorena TRIER & other people in the famly. I have some information on the TRIER family & would be happy to send it to Gearld, exept that during all this time, I don't have his e-mail address. In addition, I did a bit of research on Gerald & found out that he has lived in many cities in AZ. I also saw that he was listed as having 7 encounters with the law. That's why I'm a bit leery of contacting this man again...I keep wondering if this is a scam. Gerald claims that he found my name on a Rootsweb bulletin board (my married name) which I seldom give out & then he said I mentioned where I lived. Should I just ignore the guy? I haven't ever had this happen to me before. ~Jen

At Rootsweb under the TRIER name there are 2 posts from you. One gives your Married name and one gives both your Maiden and Married names but none state Where you live.

The posts are old one is from 2001.

It doesn't surprise me that they are old since I gave up on bulletin boards through Rootsweb some time ago. I guess I must had inadvertently put my maiden name on a post. My parents were from the same town in IA & I guess maybe I hoped someone would pick up on someone who knew this JJ TRIER b/c he would have been the 3 COONLEY boy's grandfather. Why I would have put my married on a post is beyond me. Gerald TRIER who called here, said that his e-mails had been returned to him & that makes sense b/c I had a different e-mail addy at that time. Is there anything that you can find out about this TRIER? I knew that you said he was in Scottsdale & yet I found several other places he was from. He claimed that he recently lived in Goodyear which is a bit south of Phoenix. None of my business why he lived in so many places & yet it seems kind of weird for a 72 yr old man to moving around like I found that he had. From what I can tell, he's self-employed, I got the impression thathe was in some sort of financial advising. BTW, what URL did you use to get to thse websites? I am interestd in what else I might have said b/c he was quite versed on the TRIER family. I suppose I'm being a bit paranoid about people calling me at home, but I know my husband is dead set against me getting any calls from anyone that he doesn't know...that included men & women. He keeps telling me thatI am going to get in trouble on the Internet b/c so many people have access to it. I agree to a certain point & yet sometimes & yet at times you have to talk to others in order to learn things about your family history. I'm pretty sure I know why J J TRIER was always omitted from my Father's family & yet it's part of his background & I guess I'm bound & determined to find out more about his family. Hope that all is going well with your new teeth. My husband had all his pulled & came with my to my parent's home where he helped me take care of my Father who was dying from cancer. Hw h

I goofed up & never finished what I was saying, nor did I proof read what I said! (I guess I accidentally said to post). My husband had all his teeth pulled on a Friday & had hoped to get back to the dentist on the following Monday. Well, when he called, he learned that the dentist was on vacation. So he had to get along until the dentist returned in 2 weeks.I was surprised how well he got along..and all the foods that he ate. ~Jen

I have made Cold Calls often like that and not once have I been rejected when they know you are doing Family Tree research.
