guess our January thaw in CT was short-lived & now over LOL.... we're now under a winter storm warning from midnight tonight (Sun.) through 7 PM Monday - a powerful winter storm expected to leave us with 8 to 14 inches of snow! Bet the kids'll have another snow day tomorrow.

Wehere in the Norwich area don't always get as much snow as all around us but at my new place in Lyme it usually gets socked in good! (or bad as one sees it!)

At USGENWEB for York Co,NB I found death records for Osa, Edith and a William. Also found there was an Elwood C. Gilliland living in York who was (b) 1870 in IL. Do u have all this already?

Edith Belle Gilliland (b) Nov.3,'02 died Ap.27,'33. I guess these dates r 1900's. Names associated w/her such as maiden etc are Wright and Smith. I found an Edith B. Wright living in York County earlier who fit her as to age. That one was (b) in Indiana. Osa Jane Gilliland Mar.17,'68 to Feb.13,'32 names associated are Crane and Beck. William H. Gilliland Sept. 10,'62 to Nov.12,'29 names associated are Holloch and Randal.

What is Edith's connection? I haven't seen u mention an Edith before. The other was not an Edward but an Elwood C. and names associated w/him were Smith,Berkey and Phillippi. He was found earlier but I can'r remember much about him but he was found as Elwood C. Gilliland born in ILL. in 1870.

I only had Edith's middle initial whish was B. so The Edith belle gilliland you found is the right one. Her maiden name was Wright, and she was John Gilliland's first wife. John was the son Of George and Osa Gilliland. And you have the right Osa too, Her name was Osa Jane (Crane) Gilliland, parents John M. Crane and Angeline Beck. I don't have the names of Edith's parents, or John's second wife. I don't think William or Edward Gilliland are related, but I will write them down for further reference. They may be from another branch of the Gilliland family. Thanks for this additional information.

Found this at LDS: William Halleet Gilliland (b) Sept.10,1862 in Cape Girardeau,Missouri to Edward Jackson Gilliland and Margaret Lucinda Randal.

I found Edith w/her parents before she married and will post that info.

Once again it is Not EDWARD but ELWOOD.

Edith's parents were Alanson and Anna Wright both born in Indiand he about 1870 and she about 1871. Alanson had a brother Henry living w/then in 1910.

That is both born in Indiana.

Edith was born in Indiana but they were in Neb. by the time (1910) Edith was 7.

Found this: John J. Gilliland born Jan.17,1904 in Neb. died in L.A.,Calif. Nov.7,1971. This matches your John who was age 6 in April 1910 when census was taken.

Edith died in 1933 and in 1930 they had been married less than a year so maybe she died giving birth. Do u know if John and Edith had kids? Or if John and his second wifehad kids?

The information I have of where John Gilliland died must be wrong, since you found this. What i have is that he died in Bradshaw, York Co., Nebraska. Yes, John and Edith had a daughter Arlyss date of birth inknown, who married John Tombarge and who lived in Ohio. John and his 2nd wife supposedly had more children, but I have nothing about them. John ran the delivery truck to the farms and graduated from Bradshaw high School in 1922. I wonder when he moved to Calif.?
