Congrats! Aren't grandchildren wonderful.
Happy St. Patricks Day to all. Be sure your sound is on! ~ ~ ~ ~ http://llerrah.com/irishproverbs.htm
Elihue J. Hicks married Lucinda Hackney on 20 Sept 1884 by minister N.B. Gray. The parents were listed as Jessee and Sarah Hicks, and John and Susan Hackney. In the lost marriage record of russell county, 1848-1853, I found that on 30 Jan 1851 Jessee Hicks (21) married Sarah Ann White (18). The minister was listed as Christian Easterly.
You are moving right along with this line. Now you have a couple of more names to search...Hackney and White. I did not check to see if there are cemetery listings on the usgenweb for that part of Russell county.
Thanks for that Irish proverbs site. Love it!
Thanks! I knew that I could count on you.

Happy St. Patrick's Day to you also
Forgot to mention that a week ago I became a grandfather for the first time.
I have found several Jesse Hicks but not one in 1850 who was of an age to be yours so can't find His parents. Most were from KY. Found ones (b) 1814 and 1845/46 range but no 1830 range. Thought he might be found 1850 w/parents.
Congratulations to you. Hope you are close enough for frequent visits.
MrB, Many congradulations. Boy or girl? You'll love being a grampa.

it looks as if Boon Felton was a General in the War of 1812. Mohter is not listed but father is said to be Elisha 3rd son of Richard FELTON the 3rd. This Richard is said to be the start of the NC FELTON's. Elisha also served in NC state assembly 1800 to 1817 and Senate until his death in 1821.
Richard the 3rd wife name was Ann HARRELL. 10 children. William, Noah, Elisha, Shadrack, Cadar, John, Ann, Sarah, Mary and Chloe.
One post at Ancestry says Elisha (b) 1855 was (m) to a Millicent Carter but they (m) 1796. Elisha was son of Richard Kadar Felton and Either Ann Harrell or Margaret Harrell and Elisha (b) 1855 had kids: Boon, William,Shadrack and Bolin but The post naming the kids doesn't name the kids mother.
This Boon FELTON was probably the son of Shadrack: Family Data Collection - Marriages about Boone Felton Name: Boone Felton Spouse: Margaret Susan Crawford Marriage Date (Day, Month, Year): 20 Nov 1866 City: Gates County State: NC
The info re Richard FELTON was taken from publiacation: A genealogical history of the Felton family : ancestors and descendants of Lieutenant Nathaniel Felton, who came to Salem, Mass. It also mentions that his second child Noah also married a HARRELL.
Mentions that Richard #3 was born in 1700 and died in 1776. Will of record is in Chowan county. Richard # 2 lived with NC Gov Samuel Stephens.

Cream de mint? Today we need electricity! Power pole hit and power off all day today. [looks like cold corned beef today!] Power on now, some local people hurt badly when they T-boned the pole.
Congrats on the grandson. Over 9ilbs?! Hope your daughter is doing well! Give her our best and tell her congrats from our family.
Thanks for the quick repsonses. I found one web site with the Felton family but am having trouble following all the names, it is not a very good web site to navigate and full of awful graphics. Not sure I will trust the info. Ron is home now watching the beginning of Formula One racing so that is my cue to get to bed.

If your family was in Plaquimines, and or Perquimines, make sure to check out the Quaker records. They were there and going strong during that time period. That is where I found a lot of one of my families info.
