Thanks so much Toni! I really appreciate your going to the trouble, especially using soundex. Others have looked and said they couldn't find it, and now I see why. You are absolutely right, thats the one, mispelled as Chick. Funny that I found them in the 1880 census as Check, so those poor people with the surname CHEEK seem to have trouble getting their name spelled correctly!

Hi Bea, There are both Glover and Crocker in present day Fairfield County, although I doubt they are limited to the area. There is a Fairfield County site at GenForum and Rootsweb that you might try posting at. Also, the SC archives aren't too too far from me, so if you pin anything down and need some legwork, I might be able to help. You are welcome to email me, just click on my name, if I can try helping.

I would love any and all information you may have on George GLOVER who married Rebecca BYNUM. As for my CROCKER/CORKER lines, they are like 6 or 7 generations back, however, if check one of my previous posts you will be able to see who I have with that surname. As for George GLOVER, all I know is that he was born about 1760 and that he and Rebecca BYNUM married in SC about 1798 and of course the children they had and their descendents from there.

Just stopped in to see how everyone was doing. Looks as though there are some who are finding their names & that is GREAT!! My husband just got home from the hospital on Friday from having his second knee replacement, so my time is limited. We are both on oxygen due to medical problems, so I have to take care of that weekly. Have to go so that I can take my husband over to the hospital for another shot (they are blood thinners so he doesn't have any blood clots). Hope to be back later.

Are you still having problems posting at GenForum? If you will email me with the page you are getting, or a post I might help with, I will see what I can do.

Bea, I will keep looking out for those names, but in the meantime, if you stumble across any clues, let me know.

Again, I thank you for looking out for me, and doing the lookup. I have alot of CHEEK info back to the 1700s. Am not trying to place them geographically to add information in. Thanks again, I really appreciate it!

Darn! I try SO hard to avoid spelling mistakes! That should read: 'Am now trying to place them geoghaphically...' rather than 'not'. Sorry about that.
