For those who are researching in NYS, here's an interesting site. http://cdl.library.cornell.edu/cgi-bin/moa/sgm/moa-idx?not sid=AFE2371 This is good for searching the 1870 NY State Directory. Do a boolean here, putting surname AND first names in spaces. (Site from Cornell University)

Good morning all and good night to moremoretea if you are here. I have seen you here often. Yes, knowing the English language is important when you are communicating with English speaking people. Though this country has much diversity, only a small majority speak 'foreign' languages. The sad thing is that a lot of my ancestors (American Indian) people no longer speak or even know their native language. I wished I knew more languages than just English and a little bit of Spanish. Have a great time otherwise, moremoretea. Bea
