I was over and looking at the 1880 census for Vt. I thought that I would look for my brick wall family members! How I love how the information was up down. They have my Grandfathers brothers put down as grandchildren to their own parents! It threw me at first as the one one child was had his grandfathers name. Good thing that I had my records out. I was wondering just where these people lived in 1880. I guess that someone could have a grandson at age 27! Just wanted to share with you all the research on the census! It made my day. LOL Watch out for those names that they did not go by in everyday life.

Still working on John Jacob TRIER. I have records that state he was b 2 July 1838 in Buffalo, Erie, NY. After I thought this was established, I found on the 1880 census CD's put out by the LDS, that his parents were born in PA as was John Jacob TRIER & possibly any of his siblings. From the research which I have done..I feel this may have been Lancaster, PA. I guess there was a 1890 census done there. I'm especially interested in Windows & Veterans. I have looked through information & have found this *might* be found on Roll 81 through the LDS for Lancaster, PA.
Any suggestions? This is above my head at this point.

Glad you had a good laugh! This was a Gt Gt Grandfather that went back to England in his old age. He wanted to be buried next to his wife that died before he came here. He was found in a Workhouse in 1884 when his grandson had gone to England for awhile.I guess he was living on parish poor relief. To think that at one time he was a triving businessman in that town!

guess I'll post my other brick wall also. William CROMWELL. 1850 census and later census records for his adult children list his place of birth as PA. He was born in 1814 and died after the 1850 census and before the 1860. His family is living in Frankstown, Huntingdon, PA in 1840 and in Alleghaney, Blair, PA in 1850. His widow and children (minus a few) are living in Clinton co PA in 1860. Family lore handed down verbaly to my grandmother indicated a connection to Col Thomas CROMWELL of MA. possibly a grandson???? Col Thomas moved to Huntingdon co PA after the AR and a town of Cromwell was established. Cromwell PA name changed sometime in the mid to late 1800's to Shirley.

Richard did marry in Harrison county on 1 Jan 1835.

came back to mention that 1930 Boston MA Census also showed that William and Bertha SCHANDELMAYER owned the house and had their dau. & son-in-law renting there. I think their names were Clara & John McNUTT??? If you need the rest of that census page info on these people, just let me know. I can go back & jot it down for you.

bet you already know this LOL but... on other spelling SHANDELMAYER, there's 19 fam. tree databases w/ that name, includes family of George SHANDELMAYER and wife Regina BRODMANN!!! It's actually only 3 databases belonging to 2 people but they show MA and Germany. Just type SHANDELMAYER in surname field when you get to http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com ~ Might be 2 good contacts for you if you haven't seen/done yet :-) ... and I'll email all the rest I found on SHANDELMAYER spelling (which basically amounts to brother and sister George and Florence/or Flora SHANDELMAYER and Florence's husband, all from diff. databases). I think it odd that these 2 siblings show up (apparently ages 8 and 10) on a 1915 Albany NY Census but didn't come up with any other family??? Well, maybe you can figure out. Email on the way. - already sent the other one.

don't know if this interests you but there's 10 (current) phone/add. listings for SCHANDELMAYER which are in FL, GA, MA and ME ...... and there's one family tree on worldconnect that includes a SCHANDELMAYER from 16-1700's Germany (think it was a Cathrina??). Most of what I posted, you prob. have or have seen, but it's all I dug up on that spelling from Ancestry.com
