LOL...reason I left plenty of evidence where I've been the last many years...lol. Daughter-n-law didn't put me on their census when I was in MD been married twice...reverted legally back to my maiden name, couldn't stand my last married name born in KY, but lived overseas and a hundred different other places. Made sure I left them all plenty of info...lol...have a good nite all...prayers here and overseas. Afterthought...if they can't find me years from now, sure won't be because of me...lol.

That is just it, someone does not want other people to know. This is where I get to lost on my brick wall. One source says he was born in NY. That is the census. Another says in Vt. that was something that came from the state archives. Yet the town that he was born in from that information can not find any listings for his birth there. It is a merry-go-round. Take my father-in-law. He was born in Indiana on a family trip back there although all of the other kids were born in Wyo.,where the family home was.

I know what you mean with families having people that have been married many times. What is even worst is when they moved back to the old country. My uncle tried to find just what happen to his father after grandma divorce him. Then years later out of nowhere he had two brothers that showed up on his door step. They trace him through his military records. The brothers were young enough to be his sons. One was a dead ringer for his father.

G-o-l-l-y gee can't even imagine how confusing it must be to try to trace folks that have had 'several' marriages that they have lived in as children. I was thinking of someone like Liz Taylor and Zsa Zsa Gabor. I think they have both been married 6 - 7 times each !!!

No-body's ever here when I post...but wanted to let you all know...never fully believe what you find on Census info...sure we all know that...but the errors can start you on a path you'll be sorry you took...on my 1980 Census for William and Lucinda (Batts) Douglas, a child, Walter, is listed as being born in IL, on the 1880 Census I found yesterday, Walter is listed as born in KY with all the other kids...due to the marriage year and birth year being the same, think Lucinda didn't want anyone to know for sure...little devil...lol...happy hunting all!

One in the same I hope...thank you lady...spent most of yesterday afternoon searchin' this family. This sounds like a good lead...I can almost be positive William had a brother John. When I went back to New Castle, KY the Douglas Family Plot is there with William, Luncinda BATTS, My Grandfather John, and Della MEEK...another brother of my John, Leslie DOUGLAS along with his wife Goldene POLLARD. I also found two DOUGLAS' I have been unable to connect, yet in the same area of the cemetary...a John Douglas b. 1849 d. 1927 KY, and John L. Douglas b. 1897 d. 1932...no doubt related, could be cousins. Cannot chase these people down. The only problem being with John in my photos and William, is John would be 1 and William 11. I did not unfortunately get a chance to search the records as they were closed that day. Thanks again...found the 1880 Census with William and Lucinda listed as farmer...Henry Co., KY. Everyone in that DOUGLAS family had so many Williams, Johns, and Leslie's. I posted my GEDCOM at GenCircles if it would help anyone...needs some work, but not feeling 100%. Sorry for the long post.

UNITED KINGDOM, ENGLAND, STAFFORDSHIRE. The Register Offices
hold local birth, marriage, and death records back to the start
of civil registration in 1837. The county's Family History
Societies are collaborating with Local Authority Registration
Services to make the indexes to these records freely searchable
via the Internet. Although the indexes are not yet complete for
all years and districts, the database will eventually cover
Staffordshire births, marriages and deaths, 1837-1950.
