Interested in details of the Louis BIESEMEIR family. Louis is listed in 1880 Census as a carpenter with wife, Charlotte and 4 children. Census was taken in Charrette, Warren Co., MO. The census also indicates that 3 other men were living in the household as non-family members. These men were: Reinhard KOCH, age 36, saloon keeper Anton SPREUGER, age 40, laborer William LYON, age 23, shoemaker Reinhard KOCH is my g-g-grandfather. In the Centennial Book of Elgin, NE, it says that one of my ancestors, Theodore Hoefer, took the job of Road Boss in late 1902. He continued to farm his land while he was Road Boss. Can anyone tell me what being a 'Road Boss' in this time period was all about?
