This was an interesting Url which I came across on my Erie Co., NY List. How popular is/was your surname? http://www.pbs.org/cig-registry/pov/sweetestsounds/poit?name I put in 4 of the names I'm searching for..got all but one. If you cannot find your surname it's because it was not among the top 55,000 most common names in the USA. Think this will take you back to the 1700's.

i got into pbs and put in genealogy, and have somethings come up, so guess that is what you mean, and i just search for the Erie Cty things. but it looks like there is allot more than just erie cty. good site, thanx

If you left click on 'Start Here' above you should get some directions. Basically what you can do is list the surnames (last names) you are looking for in capitol letters. If you have any information regarding dates of birth or dates of death...or places where these people lived & died that would be helpful too. Just jump in, Ann Marie, I am sure you can figure it out. okay, i just used this url you put in, and i got in there, put in my name that i want and this is what i got......Eldridge is surname number 1247 in the USA. that is it? what do i do with that. how or what happens? i couldn't figure out what to do with it....can someone help me, thanx
