When doing genealogy research the most common 'keyword' for me is always the surname.
If searching in the surname forum or archives of a surname mail list, I use the location county or city or given names. I hope this answers your question.

I agree with TNMarge. When your genealogy becomes more complex you will see needs, at times, to search for some other items.

You didn't leave an email address -- so how would someone contact you?

It was a beautiful day here in North Central Utah. It was about 65º here today. Are you anywhere near Green Bay or Brown County, WI? Just curious as my maternal great grandfather died there and is buried in one of the cemeteries there. He was a Finnish immigrant. He came here in the late 1800s or early 1900s.

Welcome to Family Workings -- a message board / chat area for doing ancestral research. If you will place your name in the 'from' area - and [room or to whoever] you are addressing in the 'to' box -- and an email address in the 'email' box -- it would help us help you.
If you don't get a response right away,it may be that no one is here at the time you are. So do check back often. Also if you 'hang out for awhile' you can hit your 'refresh' button on the top left center' area of your browser, and that will bring up any new messages.People from all over the world are in and out of this area at all hours of the day and night -- so check back often.

If anyone happens to run across any AL HEEDLEY/HEADLEY/HUDLEYS please let me know. I am stuck at the proverbial brick wall with my great grandfather, James Marion HEEDLEY (or other spelling variations). His parents were supposedly James Wesley HEEDLEY and Vicie BYNUM, but I have been unable to document that. Would be nice to know where the family was before they moved to AL. If anyone has any information that would allow me to document my great grandfather's parentage, I would greatly appreciate receiving that information. My email address is bdorsett801@msn.com Thanks.

That is supposed to be a searchable site online. I will check it out and see what I find.
